Shardmoon is a fantasy card game, and its world came first. The moon broke, its shards fell on the Shard Isles and woke as Shardlings, creatures of living moon crystal. Binders bond with them and lead them over the bridges between the islands. Every card in the game is one of these Shardlings, a spell or a trap, and the four classes come from the kinds of land the shards struck: volcanoes, hanging forests, fog and the mountains with the ruins of old cities.
The novel The Girl Who Bound the Fog tells the story of Isla Wren and her Veilowl Hush in the same world. You can play the game without the book and read the book without the game; together they show the same isles from two sides.
