Shardmoon

Looking for games like Hearthstone?

In Hearthstone, minions have attack and health, decks have 30 cards and your mana grows by one crystal each turn, up to 10. Shardmoon keeps similar basics and changes the board. If you are looking for games like Hearthstone, here is what feels familiar and what is new.

What feels familiar

You draw a card every turn and your energy grows by one each turn, up to 8. Creatures have attack and health and stay on the board until they are destroyed. You build 30-card decks from your collection, and the opponent’s life total is the target.

What is different

  • Lanes. The board has four lanes. A Shardling only fights the one opposite, and an empty lane is a door to the opponent. Placement matters as much as the cards.
  • No strike back. The defender does not deal damage to the attacker, so a normal attack costs the attacker nothing (Thorns and traps are the exceptions).
  • Evolving. Shardlings grow through three stages. You pay only the difference and keep the damage already dealt.
  • The rune. Each turn one class costs 1 less, and the rune follows the class of the last Shardling destroyed, so it helps the player who is behind.
  • Up to 2 energy carries over to the next turn.

No download

Hearthstone, Marvel Snap and Legends of Runeterra need an app or a game client. Shardmoon runs in the browser, on desktop and on phones in landscape. That makes it easy to try during a break, and easy to share with a friend: send a link.

A world with a story

Shardmoon has its own world, the Shard Isles, and an illustrated novel set in it. The card game and the book share the same rules: two platforms, four bridges, a ward of light.

Questions

Is Shardmoon made by Blizzard?

No. Shardmoon is an independent game. It is not connected to Hearthstone or Blizzard.

Is Shardmoon harder than Hearthstone?

The rules are short, and a guided tutorial explains them. The lanes add decisions about placement, which is where most of the depth comes from.
