What you might be looking for

A deck that mixes two parts of a world, cards that grow stronger during a match, and decisions that matter more than luck. In Legends of Runeterra, decks have 40 cards from up to two regions, with up to 3 copies of a card. Shardmoon works with smaller numbers: 30 cards from at most two of four classes, two copies of a card and one of a Legendary.

What feels familiar

You build your deck from two classes, and the mix decides your plan. Creatures stay on the board and fight, spells answer them, and your Shardlings evolve through three stages while the match goes on. In Legends of Runeterra, mana grows round by round up to 10. In Shardmoon your energy grows by one each turn, up to 8, and up to 2 energy carries over to the next turn.

What is different

Lanes: the board has four lanes, a Shardling only fights the one opposite, and an empty lane is a door to the opponent. No strike back: the defender does not deal damage to the attacker, so a normal attack costs nothing (Thorns and traps are the exceptions). The rune: each turn one class costs 1 less, and the rune follows the class of the last Shardling destroyed, so it helps the player who is behind.

Free and in the browser

Hearthstone, Marvel Snap and Legends of Runeterra need an app or a game client. Shardmoon runs in the browser, on desktop and on phones in landscape. All cards can be earned by playing; real money only buys Moonglass, which is optional.

Solo or against real players

Legends of Runeterra also has a PvE mode, The Path of Champions. In Shardmoon you can play solo against the computer with any deck, or online against real players, in quick games or ranked play.
